on Saturday,  8th June 2024, 19hrs | Doors open 18.30hrs

at Brick-15, Herklotzgasse 21, 1150 Wien | www.brick-15.at

Maya is a phenomenal performance duet by Charumathi Raghuraman, Violin & Anantha R. Krishnan, Mridangam, two of India’s musicians extraordinaire, presenting a unique, refreshing take on traditional repertoire from Indian classical Carnatic music.

The duo seamlessly explore contemporary concepts without losing the essential nature and spirit of the ancient musical heritage of India.

Marking the 75 years of bilateral relations between India & Austria this year, Maya celebrates the transformative power of music to transcend geographical, linguistic boundaries across continents contributing to lasting connections between musicians and audiences.

Maya, Curator, Partner & Organisation

In creating..

.. a space where other cultures can simply be, where words flow into music, where one ceases to notice where one language begins and another ends, as if this was the most natural thing in the world; moving into a space of Akzeptanz, rather than existing as a representative of one culture in order to consume another. (Jim Jordan, 2001)

Maya, is a celebration of this space: Organized and curated by Anuradha Genrich, from Team Sadhana – Organisation for dance, music and interdisciplinary art, under the Anugraham initiative.

This event is supported by the Indian Embassy Austria to mark the 75 years of Diplomatic relations between India & Austria.
